Happiness has so many shades and meanings according to all of us perceptions, attitude and beliefs. We all define our own happiness. For some people to be loved is a great happiness, to have a productive day or life, to have some one around in difficult times, to eat favorite food, to visit favorite place, to watch favorite movie or to accomplish a task. How satisfied is some one with life, may define his/her happiness. It captures the momentum of positive emotions that come with happiness, expressed through smile, enlightenment and good sense of self, along with a deeper sense of meaning and purpose in life. In current situation of today Movement Control Oder in most of the countries around the world due to COVID-19, many of us might feeling lost to find the sense of happiness. We have so much restrictions in current scenario, like unable to move around, social distance, disruption in most of our routine activities. Managing work online and sense of isolation is making things far from feeling of well-being and happiness. Earlier this year many of our plans and goals have been changed during these last two months.
So its mean that the external world is controlling the internal feelings and thoughts, is it so ?
So does this mean that happiness is really about external things, like the cup of coffee or the people around me, the places i go ?
No … it’s about the process that is happening within and inside myself. And this process can happen no matter what’s going on outside of us. It can happen even if there are no external stimuli, because there are things inside of us that we can appreciate as well or we can neglect very well. If i re-write and re-evaluate the sense of the situation that is happening, can i find something different?
Yes sure, things will be entirely different if i re-evaluate the current situation differently. What will make me or help me to re-evaluate , is it my thoughts, feelings, beliefs or my attitude. Yes all work as a processor for my reality interpretation.
To see my situation from re-evaluated version i found that this lock-down period given me a time of self reflection, self improvement, the skills i was lacking, what is needed for me to feel what i am, who i am, whats my plan in life, where i am heading, currently i am not on approval of any other stimuli for my happiness. I found the profound meaning of self , to engage myself in different activities rather then to wait for some controlling task , it given me strong self worth and meaning of happiness. Doing exercise, reading book, enjoying a cup of coffee and watching favorite drama was incredible worth doing. To stay strong psychologically is most remarkably important to handle any pandemic situation or traumatic event in life. Resilience can be build in adverse situation, where we define the meaning of self worth beyond the meanings of events. Happiness is much inside task rather then in controlling stimulus of surrounding. Lets define our happiness, what ever we are capable and what ever we can do to deal the adverse situations.
